Fake chrome-plating

We are getting a lot of work from unhappy customers who had their parts (look -a- like chrome coated)

There is definitely no substitute for electroplated chrome.

Below is an e-mail from an unhappy customer that had a badge done in “chrome look- a - like”

Hi Guys I'm over in Perth and I was wondering do you do plastic chroming and if so I had a Chevy Grill Badge

chromed over here for my VZ SS Thunder Ute and the job was disgusting I refused to pay for the job and they even

broke a lug of the back of the badge so I was wondering if say either I send over to you a new badge and you plastic chrome

it for me or would it be easier for you to buy one over there and chrome it and send it over to me as I have to buy a new

one anyway and I will pay for the whole lot before you send it over of course.

efforts in chroming on plastic (step3)

Efforts for chrome-plating on plastic (step 3)
After a layer of primer (which helps to smooth the surface of the object and prepare
it for further treatment) and a session in the drying oven, a blast in the spray booth sees
each component treated with up to four layers of a conductive compound. The important word is "conductive".
This allows the chrome-plating process (which relies on electric current to deposit pure metal onto the surface
of the object being chrome-plated or electroplated) to occur once the object is hung in the plating tanks and a jolt
of current sent through it. That's why thick copper wire is used- to deliver the heavy current from the transformer to the object.

bronzed cigarette

Bronzed cigarette.

Most people who smoke have thought about giving it up.

We at the Bronzing Studio have a solution what to do with your last cigarette.

When you are ready to give it up, smoke only half the cigarette and put it out.

Bring it in to us and we can bronze it for you in a metal of your choice and then engrave it (My last puff, or my last cigarette) and date.

You can either carry the bronzed cigarette with you and when you have the urge, take it out of your pocket,

look at it and feel proud of your achievement or you can mount it onto a wooden base and engrave a plaque.

Invite your friends that supported you giving up smoking and there will definitely be a lot to talk about.

efforts involved in chrome plating plastic

We at Chrometech would love to give you and idea of the effort involved in chroming on plastic. General preparation includes disassembly of multi-part components (such as glove box lids) and the repair and smoothing of older chipped or damaged components. Many vintage, rare or irreplaceable car parts require crack repairs and surface smoothing before the chroming process can begin. Most plastic car parts from tail light bodies to gearshift surrounds can be given the treatment. The first real production step at Chrometech is the wiring of the objects. Components which are to be plated are mounted on thick copper wire which allows them to be immersed in the plating tanks. Some larger or smaller objects, such as an instrument cluster, require two or more wires. At this stage, parts of each object which are to remain unplated (such as the see-through faces of instruments) are carefully masked so they don’t cop a coat of chrome.

Step 3 to be continued tomorrow.

chroming plastic

Like a panel for paint, the part to be chrome-plated is cleaned of all paint, chrome or whatever. Chrome is vaguely similar to paint in that conventional mods-like body filler- are used to fill gaps in metal. Once clean, any chips, nicks, cracks or pits are repaired with a filler and sanded smooth, and copper electrodes are glued to pre-drilled holes.

The process of chroming is called electroplating and the bright, reflective finish is achieved by applying several layers of an electrically conductive media to the surface. While an electrical charge is run through the part, the plating only bonds to the pre-treated area.

To have a part, be it in plastic, timber, glass, porcelain, fibreglass or whatever you want chrome-plated, all you need to do is disassemble the parts and get it to the Chrometech guys. They prefer to clean the parts themselves using solvents that won't harm the part or the finish.

The part is given about 3-4 coats of primer which bonds to the base material and allows for 3-4 coats of plating. The part is then copper, nickel and then chrome-plated for a minimum of eight hours to assure a solid coat covers the entire part.

Bronzing award

We are giving people the chance to preserve their sentimental items forever.

We were approached by a lady who organized an event for the Australian Biggest Morning Tea. The funds raised were for the cancer research. She brought in a chef’s hat for us to bronze. The bronzed chef’s hat was given for the best bake off.

Below is a thank you after the successful event.

“An enormous thank you and a plug to Walter and Gerda Schellander of the Bronzing Studio right here in Anella Ave, Castle Hill…they very willingly donated the magnificent perpetual trophy “The Copper Chef” If you have any organization/event  etc that require an award with a difference, I can’t compliment them enough.

Thank you thank you thank you Walter and Gerda

Everyone was blown away by your efforts and generosity”

Kind regards

Jane W.

shiny chrome-plated car stuff

The super-shiny colourless stuff that most of us know

as chrome-plate has been used on cars for decades.

Not only does it look good, but it protects steel bumpers

and other bits from corrosion. Cars of the 1950s are probably

the best known for their use of chrome, with shine dripping from

everywhere from grills to radio knobs. But contrary to popular opinion,

the use of chrome isn’t restricted to steel bumpers and headlight rims.

Chrometech opens up a whole new universe for car modifiers by applying

chrome to just about anything that can be unbolted or unclipped from your car.

We can repair small chrome items on older cars, but more and more of our

work involves components such as bonnet vents, door handles and plastic

interior components.

In fact, anything from bars of chocolate (!) to champagne corks

to kiddies shoes can all be chromed.

golden memories

Don’t know what to do with those tiny baby milk-teeth your mother always stored in an old matchbox in the garage?

Sentimental items of babyhood as well as other strange but dearly-held objects, are being gold, silver or copper-plated.

A lot of people call this process “bronzing”

Other popular items that some parents never quite have the heart to throw away include baby’s locks, rattles, bonnets, bibs, dummies and locks of hair.

Anything can be “ bronzed”  or encased in metal to keep the meaningful memories

The Chrome Age

The Chrome Age

Chrome-plating is back in style and this time, it’s not just metal.

Take a look at the top cars at shows and on the street and you’ll see chromed wheels, chromed bumpers,

grilles, plastic trim and all sorts of chromed accessories from interior fittings to body parts and engine bits.

You can even buy a new Daihatsu with chrome bumpers and mirrors.

The advent of plastic chromed bumper bars, grilles and exterior mirrors gradually saw chrome work disappear from the exterior of production models but the latest electro-plating technology allows just about anything to be chrome-plated, either partially or wholly. Today customers are chrome-plating all those parts that are plastic. Even fibreglass isn’t immune to chrome!

Unique memories

Mrs. Betty H. from N.S.W. has kept her children’s baby shoes wrapped in tissue paper and securely stored for more that 40 years in one of her drawers as a clear reminder of pleasant times gone by.

After finally finding a bronzing company (us) she now proudly displays the beautiful bronzed shoes on her mantle shelf. Needless to say those bronzed shoes will initiate many fond discussions.

Her daughter too had her three daughter’s christening booties bronzed with 24 k gold.

I am sure that the grand-children will keep up the tradition of bronzing their children’s shoes as well.

chroming

Do you want to be better as the rest? Do you want to stand out? Do you want to impress your girl-friend?

Let your pride shine. Chrome plate all of your plastic interior and exterior

Car parts and you definitely are in to win with all that chrome.

Why not arrange a visit to our chroming place.

A few weeks ago we had about 30 members of the Gold Wing club at our factory to

Show them how we chrome-plate on plastic. It was a fun day with Pizza and soft drinks.

We would be more than happy to arrange a visit with your car or bike club.

bronzing

Traditionally people hang on to memorabilia surrounding their children and treasure the priceless milestones in their child’ lives.

The service that we at The Bronzing Studio provide is to turn these bronzed shoes into beautiful ornaments to be kept as an heirloom forever for generations to come.

Imagine giving your child a pair of his or her bronzed shoes as a 21st Birthday present or as a wedding gift or just something to pass on.

bronzing

The weirdest request for bronzing came from a young woman that wanted to give something very special for her husband’s 30th Birthday.

She knew that we bronze anything from plaster to glass to wood. Her request was to make a plaster casting of her boobs and get them gold-plated.

Guess what the use was for them? She installed them on the bedroom door as door handles. I wonder if it was used as a  foreplay before entering the bedroom!

What an original idea to gold-plate your breasts and what an heirloom to pass down generations to come!

chrome-plating plastic

What is it about cars that men go crazy about?

Is it because a nice car is a "babe magnet"?

What is it with men and cars?

Is it a competitive thing among men to see who can do the best job in restoring a car to its original state and better?

We at Chrometech  make your pride shine.

We are the leading plastic chroming specialist in Australia that transform that ugly black dash

into a sparkling chrome plated dash that everyone will envy.
